Reja will replace Ballardini in Lazio

Edy Reja, former Napli’s boss, replaced Coach Davide Ballardini as football coach of Italian seria A team, Lazio.

The defet of Ballardini’s group to Cantania (1-0) last week had put him under a huge pressure due to Lazio’s droppe to 18th place in Seria A.

An announcement was released to press saying: : “SS Lazio announces that it has sacked coach Davide Ballardini and his staff. Coach Edoardo Reja has taken over the team.”

Ballardini was assign to the position in Lazio just last summer after replacing Delio Rossi.

Lazio suffered from a poor rating lately after losing nine of the 23 games this season and won only 4. Due to it they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia a month ago. In Addition, Lazio where kicked out of the European League just before winter break.

Reja’s contract with Lazio is valid till till June 2011. He was released from his position in Croatia’s club Hajduk. The first game Reja will be in charge will be this coming Sunday (14/2) against Parma.

Reja’s first game in charge will be at Parma on Sunday.
